What badge shape options are available?

Custom badges are available in two shape options: flat or curved. Your choice depends on how and where you'll use the badge — in a wallet, on a uniform, or on display.

Flat Badges

Flat badges are ideal for wallets, ID cases, shadow boxes, or framed displays. They sit flush against flat surfaces and are easier to fit into recessed leather cutouts or plastic sleeves.

Choose a flat badge if you plan to carry your badge in a wallet or leather badge holder. This ensures a clean fit and reduces unnecessary bulk or pressure on the wallet.

Curved Badges

Curved badges are designed to conform to the body when worn on the chest. The gentle curve helps the badge sit flush against uniform fabric, providing better comfort and reducing movement during wear.

Badges begin flat during the manufacturing process. If a curved shape is selected, a specialized high-pressure tool called a dapping tool is used to press the badge into a gentle curve using a custom-formed metal block.

Curved badges are best for those who will be pinning the badge directly onto a uniform shirt or jacket, particularly for daily wear.

How to Choose

  • Choose a flat badge if it will be displayed, framed, or carried in a leather badge wallet or case.
  • Choose a curved badge if you'll be pinning it to a uniform — the curved shape improves comfort and appearance.
  • If you're not sure which shape your current badge has, contact us or send a photo — we’ll help you match it.
