Can I buy a badge as a gift?

Ordering a badge as a gift sounds like a great idea, but in practice, it’s complicated. Many custom badges have ID verification requirements.

Badges are not ideal as gifts!

We understand the sentiment behind giving a badge to someone graduating from the academy or retiring from service. Unfortunately, most badges can’t be ordered as gifts if the purchaser is not affiliated with the agency named on the badge.

For law enforcement and other official badges, we require that the agency on the badge matches the agency on the ID.  The name on the ID must match the "ship-to" name. This means:

  • A parent cannot purchase a badge for their child as a graduation gift unless they work for the same agency.

  • A spouse or family member cannot purchase a retirement badge for an officer unless they are employed by the same department.

  • Even if you're covering the cost, the badge must be ordered and verified under the recipient’s name.

The only rare exception is when the gift-giver and the recipient both work for the same agency.
