City of North Miami Celebrates 100 Years

The City of North Miami is celebrating its centennial in 2026. To commemorate this milestone, the Police Department set out to create a commemorative badge that would honor its history with a meaningful keepsake for officers and retirees.

Selecting the Anniversary Badge Design

One of the key parameters of the project was that no department budget was available to cover design development or custom molds.

With this in mind, we recommended a selection of anniversary-friendly badge styles that closely resemble the department’s regular duty badge while introducing subtle design elements and providing ample space for the department name and centennial details.

We presented several strong options, and the department selected Model S702 for its added flair, highlighted by flag details, a large center seal area, and a layout that accommodated the full commemorative text.

Using this style, we developed a badge that incorporates the officer’s rank, the department name, centennial dates, the city’s commemorative logo, and an individualized badge number.

Making a Custom Badge Work Without a Budget

One of the biggest challenges was incorporating a custom center seal without incurring setup costs.

To make this possible, we structured the program as a limited-time pre-order, offering the badge at a discounted price during the initial ordering window. This allowed us to reach the minimum quantity needed to move forward without charging die fees.

The program was made available to both active and retired members of the department.

To streamline the process, we created a dedicated ordering page where individuals could place their orders directly. This ensured that all badges followed the same approved specifications, while removing the burden of collecting payments and managing orders from department staff.

To further encourage participation, we offered:

Individual ordering for flexibility
Bulk shipping to the department to eliminate per-order shipping costs

The response exceeded expectations, with 29 pre-orders placed, allowing the program to move forward without additional setup charges.

Production and Delivery

After the department reviewed and approved the pre-orders, we moved the project into production.

The badges were completed and delivered in January, just ahead of the centennial year.
