How do I tighten the pin and safety catch on my badge?
Over time, the safety catch on your badge may loosen. With just a pair of needle‑nose pliers and careful work, you can restore a secure fit easily.
What tools do I need?
You only need needle‑nose pliers. Use a pair whose inner jaws are fairly flat and whose tips taper — often called jewelry or chain pliers — for precise, delicate adjustments.
Steps to tighten your safety catch
- Lay the badge **face down** with the pin and catch facing up.
- Open the pin fully, away from the catch.
- Using the pliers, gently squeeze both sides of the safety catch — alternating pressure from one side to the other. One or two small squeezes usually suffice.
- If the catch becomes too tight, use the tip of the pliers to gently ease it from the middle outward. Test by placing the pin back into the catch and seeing if it locks properly.
- Adjust slowly and carefully — over‑tightening can damage your badge.
